Our sandpaper globe!

Here's how I've been working around the problem of not having any of the Montessori globes!

Most of the sandpaper continents I started to cut out in my map fiasco actually almost fit this globe perfectly! Well, at least Africa, Australia & South America do.

Here, Lovely is using blu-tak to temporarily attach the sandpaper shapes of the continents.

  4. Ok now that is one of the best ideas I have seen in a while! I bet you could find an old outdated globe at goodwill and decopauge over the top to make it permanent too. AWESOME idea!

  5. I was hoping to help my almost-5-year old understand that the continents on his continent puzzle ($1 from Dollar Tree) really do match the continents on our globe. This would be so much easier if I just cut out the same color from construction paper and help him match them to the globe. He'd love it and it would be much cheaper than buying extra globes. Thanks for sharing!

  9. I've looked at several different Montessori ways to approach the world, continents, and globe -- and this is a new, unique way. Thanks for sharing. I hope to do this with my children this year or next. Thanks for all the great ideas.
